Job Summary and QualificationsThe patient care manager is responsible for developing, achieving, and maintaining the goals of the ICU department by focusing on the department(s) daily operations. Consistently promotes a positive work environment by being visible and available to all levels of staff and customers. Collaboratively works with hospital leaders to maintain productivity, support hospital initiatives, and ensure department(s) are appropriately staffed. The manager reviews patient care daily, makes suggestions to improve care, and becomes involved in the care of selected patients. The manager oversees patient care in the department during all operating hours. Will assist in identifying staff development needs with an emphasis on evidence-based practice and education. The scope and complexity of the manager position will vary based on the number of beds, visits, and procedures in the department, the acuity of patients, FTEs supervised, the number of different medical staff services involved, and the activity level of admissions, discharges, and transfers per day. The manager performs delegated duties, assigned by the patient care director, ACNO, or CNO, which are consistent with her/his scope of nursing practice and competence.
Demonstrates good organizational skills. Provides safe and appropriate care within the Standards of Nursing practice at Presbyterian/St. Luke's Medical Center. Demonstrates good critical thinking skills. Displays leadership and problem-solving skills. Communicates positively and professionally with all internal and external customers. Able to articulate and demonstrate knowledge of nursing theory and practice.
