Social Worker (Safeguarding and Family Support Service)

Main Duties and Responsibilities:Undertaking Social Work on Allocated Cases:

  • Produce outcome-based plans for allocated cases, considering the needs and risks to children and their families.
  • Develop effective relationships with children, young people, and their families to enhance the impact of your work.
  • Determine the level of service required, ensuring that written plans are agreed upon with the child or young person (CYP) and their families, reflecting their views.
Needs Assessment and Evidence-Based Practice:

  • Utilise evidence-based practice to assess and meet the needs of children and families.
  • Consider available resources, statutory responsibilities, and council policies and procedures when determining how needs will be addressed.
Individual Performance and Supervision:

  • Maintain effective individual performance in line with national standards and performance indicators.
  • Regularly receive supervision to support professional development.
Quality Assurance and Record Keeping:

  • Participate in routine auditing activities to uphold the highest standards of social work practice and accurate record-keeping.
  • Adhere to the requirements of the Quality Assurance Framework.
Equity and Inclusion:

  • Address the needs of service users and carers from all communities.
  • Pay close attention to equality issues in all aspects of your work.
  • Ensure access to translation and interpretation services as necessary.
Financial Assessments and Resource Identification:
  • Conduct financial assessments and determine contributions and levels of need or service.
  • Collaborate with the Social Work Team Manager to identify necessary resources to promote child and family well-being.
Effective Partnerships:

  • Develop and maintain working relationships with relevant partner agencies, including voluntary organisations, community groups, schools, police, health services, and other statutory agencies.
  • Foster collaboration and coordination to enhance service delivery.
Accurate Record Keeping:

  • Maintain, monitor, and review accurate records of all work undertaken.
  • Utilise the Integrated Children's System comprehensively for recording information.

Person Specification:
Essential Criteria:

  • Professional Social Work Degree or equivalent.
  • Social Work England Registered.
  • Enhanced DBS Check.
  • Demonstrable post-graduate experience.
  • Adherence to professional standards.
  • Knowledge and Skills for Child and Family Social Workers (issued by DfE).
  • The ability to write reports to a high standard.
  • Understanding of the legal framework and assessment process for children and families.
  • Experience with child protection procedures.

Desirable Criteria:

  • Current UK driving licence.
  • Access to own vehicle (insured for work purposes).
  • Postgraduate qualification in a relevant Social Work discipline.
